Please join us at the Calvert 22 Bookshop for the UK launch of Sergei Sviatchenko: Collages, the gorgeous monograph on the work of the leading collage artist.

You’ll be able to hear Sergei Sviatchenko in conversation with the book’s editor Rick Poynor as they discuss the new publication, today’s image culture, and the career of an artist who continues to create a unique body of work that is at once graphic, otherworldly and totally unexpected.

Sergei Sviatchenko: Collages will be available for purchase at a special promotional price and to be signed by the artist.

We’ll also be screening Mirror by Mirror, a short film by Sergei Sviatchenko and Noriko Okaku dedicated to Andrei Tarkovsky’s film Mirror. The film won First Prize at the Lucca International Film Festival (2013).

About the book

This is the first monograph to focus exclusively on the prolific collage output of Sergei Sviatchenko, a leading figure in the contemporary collage world. Edited by Rick Poynor, whose essay provides an engaging critical overview, it gathers Sviatchenko’s most significant work from the past 10 years and shows little seen collages from his early years in Ukraine before he moved in 1990 to live and work in Denmark.

This beautifully designed monograph is illustrated with 165 images selected to bring out salient themes in Sviatchenko’s continuing development as one of the most rigorous and provocative collage artists working today.
